Lily's first birthday

Was spent, well 12.5 hours of it, in the car driving home from Rhode Island. It was a challenging decision to make, to travel home on her birthday or not, but when it came down to it I realized she would never remember and she most likely would not care that she spent her first birthday in her car seat. Plus, she already had two celebrations for her with presents and cupcakes or ice cream, so my guilt level was at a zero.

Yes, it was a rough trip!

We had one more celebration for her at home with just the three of us and some gifts. No sweets this time. She really seemed to enjoy her puzzle and gears.

The elephant really wanted to join in on the fun!
I can't believe my baby girl is one. The year has gone by so incredibly fast and such drastic changes have occurred. It truly is amazing to watch a human baby go from being completely helpless and non-interactive to a person with a personality who wants to try and do everything on her own. Simply amazing. Words truly can not express the love I have for this little girl. It was a lot of work to bring her into this world, but it was absolutely worth it!
