Thanksgiving 2008

How does one sum up a week of vaction in only a few pictures? For me, our vacation was about our family and friends. This was our first long road trip with Lily and honestly, it went much smoother than I had anticipated. The ride up took us about 10 hours and 40 minutes vs. the 9 hours we usually do without a 4-month old, but it went by fast. Lily became fussy the last two hours of the ride, but we were able to entertain her long enough to make it through. From there it was a whirlwind.

Monday, we went to visit my oldest and dearest friend Becky and her family in New Jersey. Lily got to meet her friend Maggie and we just hung out together. It was such a nice visit. I truly wish they were not so far away from us! I would love for Maggie and Lily to grow up together.

Wednesday we took a trip to our old stomping ground, Marist College (another post to follow).

Thursday was Thanksgiving and we got to see all the Meyer/Brownsey clan. Lily got
to meet her newest cousin Elliot, as well Oliver, Uncle Noah and Chris and Aunt Jane.
During the week she also met, Missy and Mickey (great aunt and uncle),
Aunt Angela(good friend of the Meyer's), as well as Aunt Maureen(another good friend).

Friday we met Cynthia and Joel in Danbury for lunch. It was a short visit, but great to
see them nonetheless.

Saturday it was time to drive home already. For some reason, the return trip was harder.
It took about the same amount of time, but Lily was fussier than the way up. She developed a cough Saturday morning and in general did not seem like she was feeling well.
We made it home safely and were all glad to be back.

Lily did pretty well at staying on her normal routine, minus waking up at 5AM every
morning and wanting to nurse. We think she may be going through a growth spurt, or
was just not feeling well because she continues to wake up once during the night to nurse,
although since we have been home she has woken up at 4AM and 2:47AM. We feel like we
have a newborn again with these middle of the night feedings, but are confident she will get
back on track soon.

This was a good trip for us to get our feet wet at traveling with a child. When we go to LA for Christmas we will definitely do it in two days and experience staying at a hotel with a 5-month old and a dog. Amazingly, that trip is only a few weeks away!!!
